Brining a Turkey

Brining a turkey can be a fun family tradition and is also nice for a change if you are used to cooking your turkey the same way every year. Enjoy!  

Brining a Turkey  

1 Cup Kosher salt

½ Cup brown sugar

Handful each garlic cloves, thyme sprigs, whole peppercorns, bay leaves, lemon or orange zest

Combine with ½ gallon water or beer

Heat until sugar and salt are dissolved and simmer 5 minutes

Remove from heat, add ½ gallon water or beer

Cool completely

Add turkey, submerge, cover with a plate, and chill 5-6 hours

Roast until internal temperature reads 160-165 degrees
